Vanessa Ague (she/her/hers) is a violinist, music critic, and arts administrator who’s passionate about supporting independent artists through the written word. After graduating from Yale with her B.A. in 2017, she moved to the city to work in development and research at Williamsburg’s new music venue National Sawdust. At the same time, she began writing about experimental, improvised, and contemporary classical music as a freelance journalist. Her music writing can be found in publications including Pitchfork, The Wire, Bandcamp Daily, The Brooklyn Rail, WNYC’s New Sounds, and Texas Monthly. She also holds a Master’s Degree from the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY and serves on the board of New Music USA’s in-house publication NewMusicBox.
