APPLICATIONS FOR WORKSPACE 2024-2025 NOW OPEN!

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Tuesday, April 23th at 5pm EST. 

LMCC's Artist Residency programs respond directly to the immediate needs of the artistic community, and promote the development of the artistic work. These residencies are available to artists working in all disciplines, via open-call applications or nomination processes.

The studio spaces are located in temporarily donated spaces throughout Lower Manhattan and in our Arts Center at Governors Island. These programs are free to participating artists.

Workspace Residency

A nine-month studio residency program that focuses on creative practice development for emerging artists working across all disciplines, LMCC's Workspace program offers space for experimentation and dialogue with peers and arts professionals, as well as career advancement opportunities.

Arts Center Residency

The Arts Center at Governors Island is home to year-round, process-based artist residency programs for artists focused on research and experimentation in any discipline. During the four-month session, residents receive their own dedicated studio space as well as access to the Arts Center's common/shared spaces and participate in professional development opportunities and discreet Open Studios events during the Arts Center’s public season.

SU-CASA

SU-CASA is a community arts engagement program that places artists and organizations in residence at senior centers across the five boroughs of New York City. The program provides selected artists with a stipend in exchange for the creation and deliver of arts programming for seniors.

Extended Life Residency

The Extended Life Dance Development Residency program extends the lives of ephemeral, essential works of dance, and advance the creative lives of the artists themselves through a new framework where institutional collaborations are key.

The residency enables mid-career choreographers to expand and experiment with their existing works, present in both traditional and site-based venues, and develop strong, collaborative partnerships with local partners and national presenters.

LMCC’s Arts Center Dance Studio Residency supports the practice of choreographers, dance companies, and other movement-based artists by offering short-term rehearsal space for works nearing completion or approaching final presentation in the NYC area.
