Lticia Herbert + Madison McCartha

every day at a time / but fractured / as my ankle ice skating / waiting / until the bone is completely healed / I had to move into my sister’s house / change has a purpose we can see / how nature replenishes itself / without our input / birds appreciate / in their natural habitat and don’t dwell in city noises / I could pinpoint / red cardinals / the red chested robin / let me tell you / the squirrel who looks in our window every day / is very concerned / she is pregnant but / lacks the knowledge of our history / of our african-american community / being from the Caribbean / I can share this with my nieces and nephews / that people are coming together / in one voice / standing-up for a belief / as bad as covid is / they can connect / with love Lticia Herbert + Madison McCartha
