The New Forty Niners is a public art installation traveling to each of the five boroughs of New York City. The installation pays tribute to the 49% of NYC households that speak a language other than English. 100 colored “guagua” sculptures, 49 painted gold, 8 to 24 inches tall. In this fifth and final iteration the sculptures are arranged on 17 colored planks representing the 17 UN sustainability goals.

Ranardo-Domeico Grays/VISIONS Contemporary Ballet

Ranardo-Domeico Grays/VISIONS Contemporary Ballet, an ethnically diverse company, will present In Truth and In Light, a thought-provoking, moving dance concert of heartfelt works. The evening’s performance features Shattered Lives, a new ballet choreographed by Ranardo-Domeico Grays, Founder/Artistic Director, recently commissioned by the Jamaica Center for Arts & Learning for the Making Moves Dance Festival 2021 ~ To Life. With music by Vir-Amicus, Patrick Avalon and Terence Trent D'Arby, Shattered Lives is about vulnerability, devastation and lack of control while facing unfortunate events and negative situations. The
company will also perform two other heartfelt works: Still Healing, inspired by stories of people who experience pain and suffering through no fault of their own, yet they persevere, and Roots, rooted in prayer, about self-growth.

“Endangered Fossils” seeks to engage the public in considering the origins of our ecosystem and our symbiotic role and relationship to that environment in light of disastrous climate change which is causing many species to tragically become extinct. Fossils are even “endangered” as certain species may not leave a trace that they ever existed. The “Endangered Fossils” project is a homage to our beloved Mother Earth in a critical time requiring immediate attention.

Here, she expands upon her Bridge to Beethoven project with two world premieres (commissioned by Music Mondays), alongside Beethoven’s ”Kreutzer” Sonata and his first violin sonata, op. 12, no. 1.

Puppetry Artists, Spica and Karen interviewed 6 extraordinary elders who are representative of New York’s resilience, vibrancy and uniqueness. Their remarkable stories, woven together, are retold through Object and Shadow Theater. “Inseparable”, explores our common humanity through the transformative lens of these individuals. Based on interviews with Julie Azuma, Nicky Paraiso, Mee Mee Chin, Agosto Machado, Margaret Yuen and Eung Ho Park.

Actors, musicians and digital artworks distinguish the real and imagined versions of Truth in this interactive virtual gallery which participants enter as avatars. Engage in activities and gaze upon historical photos, documents and short film clips while embarking on a guided tour- led by Bonita Oliver (AKA French Leave).

Tilted Axes: Music for Mobile Electric Guitars is a group of guitarists and percussionists led by composer/performer Patrick Grant. They perform original music untethered via mini-amps strapped over their shoulders. Since their inception at the first annual Make Music Winter in NYC 10 years ago, they have created and performed numerous new music events in the USA, Europe, and Brazil.
These performances include new music premieres from core members Howie Kenty, Elisa Corona Aguilar, jc (Jon Clancy), and Patrick Grant. The movement direction is by Christopher Caines.
