Applications are now open for the 2022 Arts Center Residency!
We are thrilled to announce that applications are now open for the 2022 Arts Center Residency!
The Arts Center at Governors Island is home to year-round artist residency programs for artists working in any discipline. Artists are invited to explore the principal themes of equity and sustainability throughout their residency with Governors Island serving as a site for research and experimentation.
Concurrent to Governors Island’s ambitious plans for addressing climate change and environmental issues in the long-term, the Arts Center Residency encourages creative practices that engage with social and climate justice, NYC harbor history, urban ecology, and water.
During the three-month session, residents receive their own dedicated studio space alongside opportunities for professional and creative development. Open Studios events take place during The Arts Center’s public season of May - October.
The 2022 residency is offered in three sessions:
- Session One: Tuesday, February 1 - Wednesday, May 11, 2022
- Session Two: Tuesday, May 24 - Friday, August 26, 2022
- Session Three: Tuesday, September 13 - Friday, December 16, 2022
