About the Arts Center Residency
The Arts Center at Governors Island is home to a year-round residency program that serves as an incubator for research and interdisciplinary exchange. The Arts Center Residency lets artists focus on experimentation, ongoing development, and dialogue with fellow residents.
Participating artists work across artistic disciplines – visual, performing, and literary – and engage the social, environmental, and civic dimensions of our changing world. This and all of LMCC’s residency programs are a core part of our commitment to ensuring artists have free, collaborative space for creative development and production.
The 2026 Arts Center Residency is by nomination. Through the nomination process, artists were invited to submit proposals for projects across artistic disciplines that engage climate. Resident Artists will be announced in Spring 2026.
LMCC’s Arts Center Residency program is supported, in part, by The Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation, Tiger Baron Foundation, and Rockefeller Brothers Fund.
The Arts Center Residency is also supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council, the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
