Thursday, June 22 from 6:00-8:00pm

Riverstone Senior Life Neighborhood Senior Center

As a culmination of its SU-CASA Residency, Riverstone Senior Center will host a public reception and exhibition of a selection of the works created by the elders who took part in the weekly class led by Eva Nikolova over the past several months. The exhibition will present an array of paintings made with alcohol inks, a little-known medium that was the focus of the workshop. Seductive for their jewel-like hues, but challenging to control, alcohol inks offer an opportunity for both rigor and risk-taking. Using non-porous surfaces like ceramic tiles, glass, and synthetic paper, the featured works showcase the wide-ranging explorations by the seniors, as well as their diverse sensibilities and interests. Participants used alcohol inks alone or in combination with acrylics, India Ink, gel pens, etc., to create compositions in vibrant, free-flowing colors, from observation, memory, or imagination, that span a range of styles, subjects and approaches.

Exhibition open Thursday, June 22 – Friday, September 29, M-F, 9:00am-4:30pm.
