All events in the River To River Festival are free and all are welcome

Mahicantuck is a Participatory Tape Installation that will be created during one weekend with community members and the general public around Battery Park City. The project is based on the Lenape name for the Hudson River called: Mahicantuk, “River that flows two ways.” It highlights the fact that this waterway - more than a river -  is a tidal estuary, emphasizing the mobility of life and multiple ways to flow and interact.

Presented in partnership with Battery Park City Authority

Marta Blair has been based in NYC since 1997. She has a degree in Fine Arts from the National University of Colombia and a BFA in Graphic Design. Her work includes textiles, painting and murals. Since 2021, she has been creating large-scale community tape installations.  Her projects intend to lighten up daily routines by bringing color and large pleasant forms to unexpected spaces, recreating memories and emotional connections with our roots. Through her installations, she aims to change the perception of the urban landscape, open questions and wonder, allow play, bring color, and provide moments of good interaction with others.
