LMCC's Arts Center on Governors Island has won three prominent architectural awards this year!

Winner, Cultural Projects, Global Design Awards - The Architecture Community
American Architecture Award - Chicago Athenaeum
Award of Merit, Cultural/Worship - Engineering News Record New York

The renovation of LMCC's Art Center was part of the ongoing transformation of Governors Island into a unique destination for culture, recreation, and innovation. The building was once a munitions storage warehouse and military office in the 1870s, and now it serves local artists and provides abundant space for public programming.

The Arts Center was designed by Pei Cobb Freed & Partners and Adamson Associates Architects and engineered by BuroHappold Engineering. It features 40,000 square feet of artist studios filled with natural light, galleries, performance and rehearsal spaces, and a café.
