Curated and programmed by Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, The Arts Center at Governors Island will reopen to the public June 12-October 31 with two large-scale, site-specific solo exhibitions; a participatory sculpture; and the return of the Take Care public programs series!

The 2021 season presentations push us to examine the fixity of the surrounding world, prompting us to question our social, environmental, and personal structures of justice and our understandings of sustainability. In this exploration, water becomes the undercurrent of the exhibited works at the Arts Center: physically, as the vital life source with which we nourish and grow; and metaphysically, as the ever shifting entity whose flows inform new ways to interact with and reimagine the world around us.

Exhibitions and presentations are free and open to all. COVID-19 health protocols will be in place for visitors entering the Arts Center.

More details about the 2021 season at the Arts Center will be announced soon on our website! Governors Island opens on May 1, reserve your ticket now!
