As we continue the 20th edition of River To River, Downtown New York City’s completely free summer arts festival we are excited to share some moments from last week with you!

Processions with Okwui Okpokwasili & Emily AEyer welcomed observers and participants to a slow walk from Rockefeller Park to the river.

Presented by Kamau Ware of Black Gotham Experience and architect Rodney Leon, As Above So Below engaged its participants in a series of walking tours that explore the impact of the African Diaspora on the establishment and development of NYC. There are two more tours left this week!

Land of the Blacks, an essay by artist/historian/BGX Founder Kamau Ware, that describes the erased presence of Black landowners in NYC before it was New York is now available on LMCC.net

Visitors at The Clemente joined us for an intimate experience with esperanza spalding, fellow songwrights, researchers, and mentors at Songwrights Apothecary Lab, a live installation where they created original music. The space will be open for the final “shareback” session tomorrow on June 22 in which the public will be welcomed and able to experience the lab.

Womxn in Windows, a multi-part video installation that focuses on the confluence of culture and society in an exploration of female identity was viewed by many at The Seaport and is still screened 24/7 throughout windows and storefronts until June 27.
