"Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations."
 — John Adams

On July 5th, 1:30-8pm, join us for CATCH 5th of July Weekend Spectacular!, organized by everyone's favorite Obie Award–winning, rough-and-ready, “long-standing and much loved” (The New Yorker), “consistently entertaining, stimulating, thought-provoking, and irreverent” (The New York Times), performance series, CATCH.

CATCH 5th of July Weekend Spectacular! will unfold across an afternoon of—surprisingly—sport (with the introduction of a rigorously rudimentary new game, CATCHBALL) on Governors Island's Parade Ground (1:30-3pm), and an evening of performance in LMCC’s Arts Center at Governors Island (5:30-8pm).

The CATCH 5th of July Spectacular! takes place the day after the 4th of July, 250 years after a revolutionary assertion of self-governance. Artists convene for an unruly day of performance that considers the complexities of that history, this moment — and what to do about it.
