NEW YORK CITY COVID-19 PENCIL TRACKER
April 1st  - December 1st, 2022

New York Covid-19 Pencil Tracker is a variable art edition of foil stamped lead pencils that seeks to acknowledge those who passed away from Covid-19 in our City and engage the public across New York City with the “spread” of the message, charting and replacing the devastating outbreak of the virus with an equally viral transmission of recorded facts.

The pencils will be placed during the months of April to December 2022 at random locations around the City, from waiting rooms to cafeteria, park benches and subway to list just a few. The printed message carries accurate data recorded from the NYC Department of Health and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention on the date of the pencil manufacturing orders. The public is expected to pick up the found object and participate in its migration.

Art as Solidarity
May 14 - September 31, 2022
The United Palace, 4140 Broadway, New York, NY 10033

ImagiNATIONS: Art as Solidarity is a series of artworks created in response to issues that touch us everyday, like immigration, civil and gender rights, displacement, gun violence, international conflicts and the environmental crisis. The works reflect universal values of love, justice, equality and peace, and aim to build bridges across borders, languages and cultures, and to generate a dialogue about issues that are relevant at both the local and global level.

Bearing witness to injustice and political upheaval on a daily basis, inspires me to create images that not only document the turbulent times we live in, but also celebrate the beauty and resilience of the most vulnerable communities. For me, art-making is a practice of hope in action. My hope is that these images will inspire reflection, empowering individuals and communities to create change, by raising their voices in empathy, in solidarity and in love.

FACES OF HARLEM

Faces of Harlem
August 6th, 2022-November 30th, 2022

Opening Celebration: Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 12:00PM
Morningside Park 112th Street Entrance, Morningside Dr, New York, NY 10026

FACES OF HARLEM (FOH) is a public art initiative celebrating Harlem through the lens of 10 contemporary photographers. Inspired by the Harlem Renaissance and the neighborhood’s ever-changing diaspora, this outdoor exhibition invites residents and visitors alike to learn about Harlem while uplifting the experiences of local Black and Latinx communities.

For this second edition, Founder Sade Boyewa El and Co-Curator Heryte Tefery Tequame continue the mission of inspiring meaningful conversations, fostering connection, and bridging some of the many visible gaps in the community through personal images of our Harlem neighbors. By documenting Harlemites in their intimate spaces, we want to give viewers a deeper look into family life, creativity, faith, relationships, and love within our community. This year, we're also bringing teen perspectives into the mix by inviting 3 youth photographers to share their work with you.
