Our monthly event at OS NYC features an all-VGM performance of top-call nyc musicians followed by an open Jam Session. Everyone from students and public school educators to top call, Grammy-winning musicians regularly participate in our monthly jam session.

The Summer of Song Festival 2025, hosted by the Manhattan School of Music and created by the Art Song Preservation Society of New York, is a "prelude to performance" workshop and recital series that celebrates the art song genre and its related styles. Running from June 8-21, 2025, the festival aims to engage diverse audiences through performances and master-workshops led by internationally acclaimed artists. Our artistic goals focus on elevating the profile of art song recitals by informing the public about the genre and diversifying the repertoire. Through carefully curated recitals and performance-workshops, we aim to deepen both performers' and audiences' appreciation for art songs.

Tami Tyree, Actress/Playwright of "Colored Silk", the true story of ELIZABETH KECKLEY, continues her work commemorating America's 1st Black fashion designer with an immersive exhibition representative of 1800s ballroom fashion. Apart from the play, this event, "Elizabeth Chrysalis*Butterfly" is an homage to the once-enslaved artisan's blossoming into a premier designer/entrepreneur. An all- day experience of modeling, designer talkback, music and reception, presenters include Valerie (ValStyle) Kirk (model/artist) and renowned Historical Costumer Marisa Zimmerman; Rudi Mwongozi-piano.

Makam New York’s project Echoes of the Silk Road brings together four musical genres: Middle Eastern Turkish-Ottoman makam, South Asian Carnatic, jazz and Afghan music, in a collaborative exploration of new creative frontiers. The union of these diverse musical genres offers a unique opportunity for artists to explore new creative territories, as all four musical traditions have strong improvisational roots. Musicians draw upon these elements to craft fresh interpretations, both vocally and instrumentally, making each performance unique and spontaneous.

Tabula Rasa Dance Theater will present the program "Sin Fronteras - No Borders" at El Museo del Barrio Theater, June 20th-22nd at 2pm. The program will include: 1) A re-staging of Felipe Escalante's "Border of Lights," exposing the experience of xenophobia in America, particularly at the U.S.-México border, and; 2) the premiere of Escalante's "Escaramuza," a celebration of Mexican heritage inspired by the all-female charreada, an equestrian art form that displays female strength and cultural pride. This production explores how cultural identity transcends geographical boundaries, while drawing on the collective and individual memories that shape and enrich the immigrant experience.

“Decadent,” "degenerate" and "downright dangerous!" (Sen. Joe McCarthy) are all labels used to describe the music of our annual Pride concert. We start in Germany where the Ambassadors follow the path of musical suppression from 1934 to World War 2. We'll hear the degenerate sounds of the Comedian Harmonists, Hans Eisler, Kurt Weill & others. The Community Chorale crosses the Atlantic, to explore the era of American artistic during the 50s/60s. This will showcase "downright dangerous" music by American-Jewish composers Aaron Copland & Leonard Bernstein plus folk singers like Pete Seeger & Harry Belafonte. Come join us for a program of music just too spicy to be let loose in public!

Come enjoy a short one-person, uplifting and comedic play followed by a conversation with 24/6: A Jewish Theater Company's Artistic Director. During COVID, the effects of social isolation have been acutely felt by senior citizens and those who are housebound. In response, 24/6: A Jewish Theater Company has commissioned a diverse group of over 30 playwrights to write 10 minute plays which are performed live over the telephone to seniors and those who are housebound. Each Monday at noon a different play will be performed via DOROT's University Without Walls.

I AM A DANCER 2020 For the Felice Lesser Dance Theater's milestone 50th ANNIVERSARY SEASON, the company will premiere I AM A DANCER 2020, an interdisciplinary work focusing on dance workers whose lives and livelihoods were totally upended by Covid, and illuminating what dancers dealt with to survive the pandemic, once it took away their livelihoods and almost their reason for being. Performances will take place at New York Live Arts from June 26-28, 2025. Dancers include: Mackenzie Allen, Justice Jackson, Amina Konaté, Kristin Licata, and Héloise Ponsonnet.
