Highlights from the Launch of River To River & The Arts Center at Governors Island

Thank you all for joining us at River To River Festival opening events!

On its first day, the 2021 River To River Festival presented a film by Arthur Jafa honoring the great jazz legend, Wayne Shorter! esperanza spalding, Terri Lyne Carrington and Leo Genovese came together to celebrate Shorter with a lovely performance at The Clemente.

As part of A Day at the Arts Center of the festival, we were excited to see our 2021 Art Center Residency: Session One cohort at Open Studios come together and celebrate this special day with us. Site-specific exhibitions by Meg Webster, Onyedika Chuke, and Muna Malik were also presented for the first time to the public. Yesterday evening, Miguel Gutierrez led us through a beautiful procession in Teardrop Park at Battery Park City.
