Thank you to everyone who joined us for this season’s programming at The Arts Center!

The talented Artists in Residence brought their joy, art, creativity, and ideas to the studios. Through their work, the themes of equity and sustainability were explored, fostering important discussions amongst the artists and the broader community of New York.

Our 2021 season exhibitions featured the works of internationally renowned artists Meg Webster and Onyedika Chuke, and a participatory sculpture installation by Muna Malik.

The 2021 season artists and presentations encouraged us to examine our surrounding world, prompting us to question our social, environmental, and personal structures of justice and our understandings of sustainability. Throughout the season, the public had the opportunity to further engage with the artists and their thought-provoking works through the Take Care Series, a public program that reframes art curation as a mindful practice stemming from the concept of care.

Though the Arts Center at Governors Island is now closed to the public, please stay in touch with us on social media to stay tuned for future updates and events!

We look forward to welcoming you back to The Arts Center at Governors Island in 2022!
