Workspace is on pause.
LMCC continues to adapt to a changing city and cultural landscape and we are taking this year to reflect on the history of the Workspace program and assess how we can continue to meet the evolving needs of New York City’s artists. We have an opportunity to reimagine what an artist residency can be and offer, keeping artists and their practices at the center.
We look forward to sharing updates as we imagine the next chapter of Workspace together.
About
LMCC’s longest running residency program, Workspace, is a nine-month studio-based program that focuses on the creative process and cohort development of artists.
Workspace nurtures experimentation, creative risk taking, collaboration, learning and skill sharing through regular opportunities for dialogue with peers and arts professionals. Situated within donated office space each year, Workspace offers a unique opportunity to reimagine what it means to work in Lower Manhattan. Participating artists are provided round-the-clock access to semi-private studio spaces and are expected to engage with the cohort for the full duration of the nine-month program.
LMCC seeks to create a welcoming, diverse, and dynamic cohort of individuals working across disciplines, including but not limited to visual arts, film, performance art, social practice, design, digital media, and the literary arts. Applicants should review program offerings to determine applicability to their practice.
If you have additional questions, contact Abbie Thomas, Administrative Assistant, ArtRes@lmcc.net from 10am-6pm Monday to Friday.
The Workspace Residency is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council, New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Kathy Hochul and the New York State Legislature.
Workspace is also supported, in part, by The Andy Warhol Foundation, The Howard Gilman Foundation, Jacques and Natasha Gelman Foundation, The Robert Lehman Foundation and Tiger Baron Foundation.
