Experience art in action with LMCC's 2025 Summer Season—free and open to all. From the River To River Festival's public installations and performances to hands-on workshops and open studios, this season invites everyone to engage in the creative process, strengthen community, and imagine new ways of living in resonance with New York City’s changing climate. LMCC’s 2025 Summer Season celebrates the creative visions shaping our city's future.
Registration for summer programs will be released on a rolling basis. All events are free and open to all. RSVP is requested for some events with limited capacity. Visit our events calendar for more information on upcoming programs.

LMCC is celebrating the 24th annual River To River Festival, Downtown New York City’s leading arts festival, featuring 23 events activating spaces throughout Lower Manhattan, with an expanded programming window from May 31 to October 26, 2025.
The 2025 River To River Festival, headlined by decorated artist Taylor Mac, will focus on climate change, collective resilience, and creative vibrancy in the face of crisis. The extended Festival, running from June through October, will feature a wide array of performances, film, installation, and participatory events through Governors Island and Lower Manhattan that reflect LMCC's inclusive and interdisciplinary ethos.
Fish Migration Celebration

Riverkeeper’s first annual Fish Migration Celebration will be a fun and beautiful day where art and advocacy set sail together! A whimsical flotilla of artist-designed boats, inspired by the fishes themselves, will trace their path upriver, turning the water into a moving masterpiece.

Taylor Mac's 24 Decade History of Popular Music
Oculus Outdoors Screening Series
Taylor Mac’s 24 Decade History of Popular Music was a decade in the making and captures Mac’s lens on the entirety of US history from 1776 to the present day. Oscar-winning filmmakers Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman adapt this tour de force performance in all its righteous outrage and radical humanity in this feature-length documentary.

Maison Millefleurs

A small jewel box of a greenhouse is filled with a tangled garden of handmade life-sized flowers, and lit using LED programmable lights. The outdoor installation is based on the format of a community garden and will pique the curiosity of viewers of all ages.

The Works on Water 2025 Triennial is a multi-sited exhibition and series of public art interventions made on, in, and with urban bodies of water, created in response to our global climate crisis. Artists include Frank Bloem, Jeremy Dennis, Marie Lorenz, sTo Len, Lize Mogel, Eve Mosher, Nancy Nowacek, Sarah Cameron Sunde, Sunk Shore (Carolyn Hall and Clarinda MacLow), and Marina Zurkow.

Fish Migration Celebration: Puppet-Making Workshop & Open Studio

Join artist Greg Corbino for a marine Puppet-Making Workshop and view artwork inspired by Hudson River fishes like the sturgeon, eel, and striped bass. This artwork will be used to tribute these magnificent creatures on a flotilla of art boats.

House of a Thousand Flowers: Paper Flower-Making Workshops
Rhonda Weppler & Trevor Mahovsky
Learn about the history of paper flower making and the symbolism and mythology surrounding flowers. Participants will learn to make unique paper flowers using punches, colored paper, watercolor paints, and markers. Each workshop will introduce different flowers for crafting. Take your creations home or donate them to become an integral piece of Maison Millefleurs, an illuminated public art piece, presented by LMCC as part of the 2025 River To River Festival, premiering this summer in Battery Park.

Influenced by Postmodern dance, musical theater, and Bob Fosse's sexed-yet-sexless movement idiom, Juliana F. May will host a work-in-progress showing during a creative residency at the Arts Center on Governors Island.
