Hart Island, a theatrical multimedia meditation on New York City’s Potter’s Field and the humans connected to it by LMCC Grantee Mason Holdings Theatre was recently featured in The New York Times!

Based on historical research, Hart Island weaves together six seemingly disparate voices, all connected to Hart Island. As audiences enter The Gym at Judson, they’ll be greeted by a scenic installation that suggests the depths of an archeological dig. At first, the characters of Hart Island seem anonymous and alone, locked in their own solitary existence. Gradually, however, the walls that separate them become more porous until every voice is revealed to be intrinsically linked.

"With mantra-like narration, distorted audio, flashing visuals and an earthy set, it explores the connections between humans and islands as it aims to animate the loved ones of the buried and the inmates who dug their graves." says Rachel Sherman for The New York Times.

Hart Island will run through April 9, 2022, Thursday - Saturday at 8:00PM, Saturday  at 2:00PM, and Sunday at 3:00PM
at The Gym at Judson, 243 Thompson Street, New York, NY 10012.
