Art in the Cafe
Enjoy food, drink, and art at The Arts Center Cafe & Bar!
During each public season, The Cafe exhibition space is home to a new installation. This year, enjoy there is nothing you can think that is not the moon by Rhonda Weppler and Trevor Mahovsky, on view through October 1, 2023.
For this exhibition, Wepler and Mahovsky built a black cedar shed, a temporary home for glowing objects within it. Created as handmade lanterns, each object is a replica of antique and vintage items gathered by the artists. The artists use light to animate the shed, revealing life and connection within each object that resides within, lit by changing light patterns that illuminate the through lines that connect and organize them, including type and city of origin. In the coming months, these lanterns will be given away to visitors, an offering for the objects to enter into a new phase, beyond their temporary home. The shed will remain, housing a new collection of lanterns made by the public over the course of the exhibition.
