We are thrilled to announce that Governors Island is now open to the public all year long!

Today Mayor Bill de Blasio and The Trust for Governors Island announced that Governors Island will remain open 365 days a year.

For the first time in history, New Yorkers and visitors will be able to enjoy Governors Island’s open space, cultural programming and public art and recreational resources year-round.

Also announced today, beginning in 2021, NYC ferry will serve Governors Island year-round 7 days a week with additional service on the South Brooklyn Route on weekdays and non-summer weekends, plus their existing Pier 11/Wall Street summer shuttle—that means direct access from neighborhoods along the Brooklyn waterfront, and from the Lower East Side for the first time.

A launch date for expanded NYC Ferry Service to Governors Island will be announced soon.
