
Zaq Landsberg (b. 1985) is a New York City-based artist born in Los Angeles, CA.
Zaq specializes in large scale, site-specific sculptures, absurd objects and potentially treasonous conceptual projects. His solo exhibition includes Islands of the Unisphere, produced with an Art in the Parks: UNIQLO Expressions Grant, in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens, NY, 2018; and group exhibitions: Race and Revolution: Reimagining Monuments, Old Stone House, Brooklyn, 2019, and The Emerging Artist Fellowship Exhibition, Socrates Sculpture Park, Queens NY, 2014.
Zaq was awarded a NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship in Sculpture, in 2017 and the Art in the Parks: UNIQLO Park Expressions Grant in 2018 and was also an artist in residence at Franconia Sculpture Park, Franconia MN (2017).

- Christopher Columbus, 2019, Cast mycelium, substrate, 5′ x 3′ x 1′ Old Stone House, Brooklyn NY, Replica of statue in Columbus Circle. Whether to remove the statue, because of the atrocities he inflicted, or to keep the statue as it is part of Italian/NYC minority history, the piece acknowledges both and leaves the image of Columbus intact but speeds up its decay, cast in biodegradable fungus.

- Peshmerga Fighting Vehicle, 2017, Plywood, paint, pavers, tires, headlights, steel, gas cap, caulk, 9’ x 9’ x 19’ Franconia Sculpture Park, MN, Replica of an actual truck, in service with the Kurdish Military in 2014, operating in Iraq and Syria against ISIS. The international community refused to equip the Peshmerga with heavy weaponry for years. Forced to improvise, the Kurds outfitted bulldozers, tractors, etc with makeshift armor plating and unstandardized camouflage.
