As we approach the end of the year, we’re excited to share a special project that reflects the heart of LMCC’s mission: to foster creativity, build community, and embrace sustainability—both ecological and financial.
Our team has joined together, not just as arts administrators, but as artists, to craft a limited-edition of 100 recycled-cotton tote bags inspired by our home at the Arts Center at Governors Island and our commitment to two critical priorities: supporting working artists and embracing environmental sustainability.
Each tote is a one-of-a-kind piece of art, handmade by LMCC staff using cyanotype printing, an environmentally-friendly photographic process using light-sensitive dye to create rich blues under sunlight. Because these totes are made by hand, each one will feature its own distinct design, complete with natural variations and blemishes that celebrate the beauty of imperfection.
The first 100 people who donate $100 or more will receive one of these unique bags, which incorporate natural plants from Governors Island and reflect our commitment to creativity, community, and sustainability.

To receive a limited-edition cyanotype tote bag, use the donate link below and make a donation of $100 or more. Donations at this level automatically qualify for the tote bag, while supplies last. Totes will be shipped in January after the campaign concludes.
Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC) is recognized as a tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (Tax ID: 23-7348782). Donations to LMCC are tax-deductible within the limits prescribed by law. For donations of $100 or more, donors will receive a custom tote bag valued at $40. Please note that the non tax-deductible portion of these donations will be $40. For guidance on the tax-deductible amount of your contribution, consult your tax advisor.
