This special iteration of Samita Sinha’s Tremor was performed in duet with Cecilia Vicuña. Presented in the resonant space of Federal Hall, Sinha and Vicuña infused their vibrations and lineages into the dense history and monumentality of the site, opening other ways of sensing, knowing, being, and being together. Their vocalizations were spatialized live by sound designer Daniel Neumann, within a visual design by architect Sunil Bald.
Tremor is an emergent and iterative performance and practice. Tremor was co-commissioned by Western Front and Danspace Project, and has been presented at MCA Chicago. Collaborators in previous iterations include Ash Fure, Okwui Okpokwasili, Sunder Ganglani, Darrell Jones, James Proudfoot, and Sarai Frazier. Their contributions have shaped what Tremor is and how it now grows.

Artist and composer Samita Sinha creates multidisciplinary performance works that unravel Indian vocal traditions through the body to create a decolonized, multivalent language of voice and vibration. Her works have been commissioned by Performance Space New York, Asia Society, Danspace Project, The Rubin Museum of Art, Queens Museum, Gibney, and Western Front. Sinha has received awards from the National Endowment for the Arts, Fulbright Foundation, National Performance Network, and New York State Council on the Arts.
Samita Sinha was presented as part of the 2024 River to River Festival, with the support of Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels. Profoundly attached to the world of dance since its origins, the High Jewelry Maison strengthens its commitment with Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels.
Guided by the values of creation, transmission and education, this initiative aims to support artists and institutions in presenting choreographic heritage, while also promoting new productions.
Since its launch in 2020, it has promoted numerous dance companies for their creations as well as the presentation of multiple performances around the world.
The program is complemented each year by major events, including the Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels Festival, whose first edition took place in London in March 2022.
This support further extends to awareness-raising actions focused on dance culture for the broadest possible audience, professionals and amateurs alike.
