Join SU-CASA 2020 Artist Laura Nova for Online Events
SU-CASA artists are remaining connected to their older adult participants, especially during this time of social isolation, and they are finding creative ways to do so while the senior centers are closed. Artists are sharing videos, planning calls to provide feedback on writing assignments, and reading theatrical pieces.
SU-CASA artist Laura Nova was connected with NORC Senior Center at Phipps Plaza in Kips Bay, where she started teaching a storytelling and radio arts class called "Hear Here". Due to the quarantine, she invited volunteers mostly from the performing arts community to be matched with an elder and have weekly conversations guided by a list of topics. Laura is also offering the group weekly telephoned creative calls "Tune-in Tuesday" at 3pm (a dial-in musical concert and conversation with an artist) and "Finally Friday" at noon (a dial-in offering of conversation, interactive activities, and company).
