Prologue PART III
October 31 – Dec 5
Museum of Chinese in America, 215 Centre St, New York, New York, 10013
Prologue PART III traces the interwoven journeys of five first-generation Chinese immigrant men who arrived in New York City between 1962 and 1990. Against the backdrop of the Cultural Revolution, the rise of overseas study, and the shadow of Tiananmen Square protest, each man sought a new beginning—whether for safety, education, opportunity, or simply to reunite with family. Through the distinctive visual language of shadow and object theater—these deeply personal stories unfold on stage. The result is a moving tapestry of courage, determination and resilience, honoring those who forged new lives and opened doors for future generations.

Of Love and Resistance
Dec 06, 2025 at 06:00PM – Dec 06, 2025 at 10:00PM
Alpha Omega Theatrical Dance Company, 70 East 4th St, New York, New York, 10003
Of Love and Resistance is written by Eric Avilés in collaboration with 87-year-old Tomás Gaete and his son Claudio Gaete. The play is inspired by the real-life experiences of Tomás and his late wife Sonia during the 1973 Chilean Coup. It explores Tomás’s imprisonment as a political activist and Sonia’s fierce fight for his freedom — a story of love and endurance that sheds light on U.S. involvement in the coup and the human cost of authoritarianism. Through this piece, we invite conversation about democracy, the generational cost of displacement, and state violence — both then and now.

Ciba Punch 女拳手打糍粑
December 10, 2025 at 7:30PM – 9:00PM
Speyer Hall, Performance Project at University Settlement, 184 Eldridge St, New York, New York, 10002
Rooted in ethics of care, the Ciba Punch 女拳手打糍粑 is a participatory performance series that invites multicultural community members to punch sticky rice into 糍粑 (ciba – sticky rice cakes). By making ciba in public, CAO reclaims the feminized labor of cooking in domestic spaces and see food as a queer/feminist, processual archive for movement building. Channeling our rage, grief, and love for each other into a nourishing food, we invite participants to reimagine (em)power(ment) as radical non-violence. Spiritual Figures, led by Julia Santoli, embodying queer/feminist ancestors and our future selves, roam around the ciba punchers to provide spiritual guidance via humming and breathing.

Comedy of Kindness: Laughing into Wellness in Manhattan!
Multiple dates
Virtual, Virtual, New York, New York, 10003

Comedy of Kindness brings you feel-good Manhattan laughs where jokes are warm, smiles happen loudly, and roasting occurs only by joyful request. Our comedians spin New Yorkers’ kind and wildly optimistic moments into comedy gold, from endless “after you” door-holding tangos, to Shakespearean thank-yous for delivery workers, to subway rides reimagined as full-service underground spas. If you're tired, stressed, burned out, or starring in the daily drama of pretending to answer emails, this is your well-earned wellness break. (Your secret stays in the city.) Schedule of events: 4 - 5:30 PM on all dates. 12/13/2025 12/14/2025 12/20/2025 12/21/2025 12/27/2025 12/28/2025
