Ukrainian Village Voices (UVV) is a New York-based collective of Ukrainian and non-Ukrainian traditional singers. The group’s mission is to produce educational programs, including workshops and concerts in Ukrainian regional folk, village-style polyphony, for singers and the general public within and beyond Manhattan’s Ukrainian East Village. UVV evolved out of five seasons of workshops and performances through the Ukrainian Community Cultural Initiative at the Center for Traditional Music and Dance.

Since 2007, UVV singers have performed Ukrainian village songs at New York’s Ukrainian Museum, Zlatne Uste Golden Festival, Ukrainian Institute, the East Village St. George Ukrainian Festival, West Park Presbytyrian Church, and WNYC’s Soundcheck. Members have also performed with Ukrainian seniors at the Ukrainian Self-Reliance Senior Center. UVV hosts rehearsals and musical gatherings with visiting Ukrainian folk artists including Mariana Sadowska, the Koliadynky group, and Dakha Brakha. UVV has presented three successful years of seasonal, three-part, singing workshops for the general public with Ukrainian-American master singers Julian Kytasty, Dr. Maria Sonevytsky, and Halyna Shepko.
