Shireen Dickson is a Brooklyn-born-and-based dancer who established The OKRA Dance Company. The OKRA Dance Company performs cultural, educational and interactive programs in world and folk rhythmic dances, and African and African American vernacular styles, such as tap, swing, vaudeville, and social dance. The OKRA Dance Company has performed at the John F Kennedy Presidential Library, Boston, NY (2013); Springfield Museum, Springfield, MA (2013); and the Dance Parade Benefit, Dixon Place, New York City (2014). Dickson was a fellow at the Jubilation Foundation (2013, 2014). She received a B.A. from Goucher College and an M.A. from New York University.
