Saori Tsukada and Nikki Appino are New York-based artists and collaborators. Nikki Appino began her training at the Experimental Theater Program at NYU and since then she has created and produced numerous stage works and documentary films across America. Saori Tsukada was born in America, raised in Japan, and after relocating to NYC, has performed in venues such as La MaMa, The Kitchen, PS 122, as well as internationally in London, Amsterdam, Glasgow, Dsseldorf, Warsaw, Skopje, and more. Tsukada was nominated for Best Actress at Dublin Fringe Festival. She has generated original roles for performance works by John Moran, Yoshiko Chuma, Catherine Galasso, video artist Katja Loher, playwright/director Aya Ogawa, the theater company Hoi Polloi, and more. Tsukada and Appino, from East and West, have come together to create a silent film-based performance work. Through finding both common ground as well as differences in interest, aesthetic, and skill, the collaboration seeks to create a cross-cultural, unclassifiable performance that celebrates human nature and the gap between perception and reality.
