Founded in 1993, Peculiar Works Project (PWP), is a New York-based OBIE Award-winning company that challenges the conventions and clichés of alternative performance. Ralph Lewis, Catherine Porter and Barry Rowell founded the company to create, develop and present original multi-disciplinary performances that are engaging and fun for diverse audiences. They take shows directly into local communities, presenting site-specific productions in public spaces, city streets, landmark buildings, gutted storefronts and other peculiar sites throughout NYC. PWP often brings this unusual work to new audiences by building partnerships with other organizations, including Lincoln Center Directors Lab, Judson Memorial Church, HERE Arts Center, Dixon Place, Soho Think-Tank, The Culture Project, Instituto Cervantes, and many others. PWP’s productions include The Judson House Project where they enlisted collaborative teams to create new works around about the legacy of an historic building.
