Pavel Zuštiak is a choreographer and the Artistic Director of Palissimo Company, a NYC-based performance company. Established in 2004, Palissimo Company’s mission is to attain artistic liberty in pursuit of communion and interchange with audiences through live performances, research, and teaching. Palissimo’s evening-length, multidisciplinary works for stage and public spaces have been recognized for their sophistication, piercing emotional content and abundant surrealist imagery that explore “the darker shades of human behavior” (The New Yorker).

His Bessie nominated dance, The Painted Bird Trilogy Cycle (Bastard, Amidst, Strange Cargo), has been performed in part and its entirety at Slovak National Theatre, Bratislava, Slovakia (2014); La Mama, New York City (2013); Wexner Center for the Arts, Columbus, Ohio (2012); Baryshnikov Arts Center, New York City (2011); and PS122, Cathedral of Saint John, New York City (2012). His work has also been shown at New York Live Arts, Abrons Art Center, the Ailey Citigroup Theater, 92nd Street Y, Gibney Dance Center, Movement Research, Chashama, Dixon Place, HERE, and internationally at Archa Theatre, Akcent Festival, KIOSK Festival, Slovak National Theatre, and State Thetre Kosice, among others. His fellowships include the Princeton Arts Fellow, 2015-17
John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship, (2010)
 and the Maggie Allesee National Center for Choreography Fellow (2010-2011). Zuštiak received a B.F.A. from Amsterdam School of the Arts, School for New Dance Development, Amsterdam, Netherlands and a B.S. and M.S. from the University of Economics, Czechoslovakia.
