Mary Temple is a Brooklyn-based artist who explores the ideas of knowledge and doubt through the practices of drawing, site-specific installation, sculpture, and painting. Her solo exhibitions include Mary Temple: Northwest Corner, Southeast Light, Rice University Art Gallery, TX (2011); Forest For the Sea, Smack Mellon, NY (2006); and Extended Afternoon, 3 Phases, Aldrich Museum, CT (2005–2006). Her group exhibitions include Drawn From Photography, The Drawing Center, NY.
Temple’s awards and residencies include Basil H. Alkazzi Award for Excellence in Painting (2010); The Saint-Gaudens Memorial Fellowship (2010); Mattress Factory Residency, PA (2008); and Lily Auchincloss Fellow in Painting from the New York Foundation for the Arts, NY (2006). She received her B.F.A. and M.F.A. from Arizona State University.
