Marjani Forté-Saunders is a New York-based choreographer and dancer born in Pasadena, CA. Her work stems from being born in and having engaged with culturally rich, vibrant, historic, and politically charged communities. Her works include being Here…/this time, Gibney Dance, New York, NY (2015); The View From Here (LOVE|FORTÉ), Harlem Stage, New York, NY (2015); Memory Withholdings (LOVE|FORTÉ), Brooklyn Arts Exchange, Brooklyn, NY (2014); being Here…; Danspace Project, New York, NY (2014); and Here…, Danspace Project, New York, NY (2013). Other choreography credits include CONTRA TIEMPO, Ford Amphitheatre’s Signature Series, Los Angeles, CA (2016); and Strong is Beautiful, Pantene Commercial, (2016).

Her residencies and awards include the Jerome Foundation General Grant (2015), Surdna Foundation/Museum of Contemporary African Diaspora Art Thriving Cultures Grant (2015), Princess Grace Special Projects Award (2015); New Music USA (2014), and Mertz Gilmore Foundation, Memory Withholdings BAX Production (2013). She was a recipient of the Manhattan Community Arts Fund, supported by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council and administered by LMCC, New York, NY (2014). She received a B.F.A. from Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles, CA.
