Jessica Cannon (b.1979) is a Brooklyn-based artist from Brooklyn, New York. Through drawing and painting, she explores landscapes that hover between human design and natural forces. Cannon’s solo exhibitions include Psychic Excavation, The Art Lot, Brooklyn (2012). Her group exhibitions include End of Days, Mixed Greens, New York City, (2012); Summer Short List, BRIC Arts, New York City (2012); All Jokes Aside, The Art Lot, New York City (2011); Paradise 3, Proteus, New York City (2011); and Cover Version, Brooklyn Academy of Music, New York City (2011).

Cannon’s work is included in the U.S. State Department Arts for Embassies Program (2011), and she was recently awared a Community Arts Fund Grant from the Brooklyn Arts Council (2012). Publications include Flaunt Magazine,, and The New York Times. She received her B.F.A. in English from Tufts University and her M.F.A. in Fine Arts from Parsons The New School For Design.

During her Swing Space residency at Governors Island, Cannon will create a series of drawings, paintings, and artist books that explore the island as a site that exists between desolation and destination.
