Hector Arce-Espasas (b. 1982) is a Brooklyn-based artist born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Arce-Espasas is interested in images inherent to the cultural milieu of the tropics and has recently expanded the limits of clay into his painting. Group exhibitions include 2nd Bronx Museum of Art AIM Biennial, The Bronx Museum of the Arts, Bronx, NY (2013); Here Is Where We Jump, 7th Biennial Exhibition, El Museo del Barrio, NY (2013); and Material Breach, Art Amalgamated, New York, NY (2012). Arce-Espasas’s awards include AIM Program, The Bronx Museum of the Arts (2013); International Studio and Curatorial Program, NY (2012); and Van Lier Fellowship (2012). Publications include The New York Times (2013) and El Nuevo Dia (2013). Arce-Espasas received his B.F.A. from SAIC and an M.F.A. from Hunter College.
