Elizabeth White is a Brooklyn-based artist whose work investigates psychological, social, and political questions related to desire and fear, considering how ideas of interior and exterior are negotiated across real and imagined boundaries.  Her group exhibitions include A Map is Not the Territory, FiveMyles, Brooklyn, NY (2012); Free Fall, Artisterium International Contemporary Art Exhibition, Tbilisi, Georgia (2011); and Surveil, The Center for Endless Progress, Berlin, Germany (2010).  White was awarded the CEC ArtsLink Project Award (2011), the GeoAIR Artist Residency in Tbilisi, Georgia (2011), and the Pilotenkueche Artist Residency in Leipzig, Germany (2010).  Publications include The State (2012).  White received her B.A. from Vassar College and her M.F.A. from the School of Visual Arts.  While in residency at Governors Island, White plans to consider the island’s history as a military base and its views of the Statue of Liberty and lower Manhattan as a way to explore concepts of security and freedom.
