Composers Now is a New York-based organization that celebrates living composers of all genres and enhances public appreciation for their contributions to the cultural fabric of society. Current programs include The Composers Now Festival, a month-long celebration of living composers; The Dialogues, a series of intimate performances and town hall-style conversations; Composer Residencies, partnerships providing composers with time to develop new music; and Presenter Partners Initiative, an expansion of the Festival to highlight living composer events year-round.

Tania León is the Artistic Director, curator, and visionary of Composers Now. Recent commissions include: The Little Rock Nine with libretto by Henry Louis Gates, Jr., University of Central Arkansas’s College of Fine Arts and Communications; the Virginia B. Toulmin Foundation; and the Fred Darragh Foundation. Guest conductor appearances include the Symphony Orchestra of Marseille, the Gewandhausorchester Orchestra, Orquesta Sinfonica de Guanajuato, and Thailand Philharmonic. She has been awarded the NY Governor’s Lifetime Achievement Award, and the ASCAP Victor Herbert Award. León received Honorary Doctorate Degrees from Colgate, Oberlin, and SUNY Purchase. She served as US Artistic Ambassador of American Culture to Spain and was inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 2010.
