ANIMALS utilizes various modes of visual art and performance as they move through dance, puppetry, script, and video in order to create moments that question the flexibility of the world around us and the nature of humans through irreverence, instinct, ability, and play. Past performances include pyt (Poor Yellow Trash), Dixon Place, January 2012; and Backstage at Horror Drag Short Form showing, November 2012. Awards include Short Form, Incubator Arts Project, New York City, 2012; and the Tom Murrin Performance Award, Dixon Place, New York City, 2013.
During their Swing Space residency, ANIMALS will use film/video, dance, poetry, and theater to explore the life and works of the Baroness Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven, a German born Dadaist, sound poet, and found object sculptor living in Greenwich Village in the early 1900’s.
