Andrea Stanislav (b. 1968) is a New York-based visual artist born in Chicago. Her practice considers the presence of light, fracturing the natural world and popular culture — and by extension, regards the sublime. Exhibitions include Nightmare, Manifesta 10 Biennial Parallel Programs, St. Petersburg, Russia (2014); Reflect, Moscow Biennial, Moscow, Russia (2013); and Andréa Stanislav — Vanishing Points and Ghost Portraits, 21c Contemporary Art Museum, Louisville, KY (2011).

Stanislav’s most recent residencies and awards include the St. Petersburg International Residency Award, Art-centre Pushkinskaya-10, St. Petersburg, Russia (2014); Swing Space, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, New York, NY (2012); and the McKnight Artists Fellowship for Visual Arts, Minneapolis, MN (2010-2011). She received a M.F.A. from Alfred University and a B.F.A. from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
