Aaron Sing Fox comes from the mountains of Colorado. He moved to New York City in 1999 to study at Parsons School of Design where he earned a B.F.A. in illustration. He has also studied at the San Francisco Art Institute, Colorado University and Parsons School of Design in Paris. After working for a year in Paris, Fox has since been living and painting in Brooklyn. His work has been exhibited in New York, San Francisco, Boulder, Paris and elsewhere in private collections.

Fox’s main motivation as an artist is to generate self-reflection, for himself and the viewer, by creating occasions for introspective contemplation. The paintings lay bare the process of the their construction, so the process of making becomes accessible to the viewer. By highlighting methods and processes, Fox’s paintings demonstrate the stages of their evolution and encourage an analytic-meditative state.

While in residence on Governors Island, Fox’s project will start with digital smart phone photography that will develop into images through classical methods of oil paint on linen.
