28 Liberty is a 60-story, 2.2 million-square-foot class-A office tower on the corner of Nassau and Liberty streets in Lower Manhattan. The iconic tower, designed by renowned architect Gordon Bunshaft, was originally built as One Chase Manhattan Plaza. Given its historical significance, architectural uniqueness and public impact, the building’s Plaza was designated as a landmark by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission in 2009. This remarkable building is situated within the heart of the Wall Street Financial District, with modern amenities and direct connection to six subway lines, providing convenient access to public transportation.
Fosun Group acquired the property in 2013 and has since made a long-term commitment to the building and surrounding community. Fosun has initiated a comprehensive renovation, including the lobby, elevators, critical infrastructure and plaza. Fosun also has initiated free Wifi service for the convenience of visitors to the building’s 1.5-acre plaza. The redeveloped property will accommodate more than 200,000 square feet of high-end retailers to provide service for the new tenants and local residents, and the plaza will be activated to become an amenity to the neighborhood. Community outreach has included public events on the plaza, including the River To River Festival and Dine Around Downtown, in conjunction with such partners as Lower Manhattan Cultural Council and the Downtown Alliance.
