Have you ever experienced a “public space intervention?” Want to see an artist working on a project and ask them what they are up to? Preview a new performance in progress before anyone has reviewed it?
Then don’t miss out on multi-site Open Studio offered this weekend (September 26 through 28) in Lower Manhattan and on Governors Island, by Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC). The event features free art exhibits, performances and activities over three days, with many opportunities to get to know the artists in LMCC programs, explore the artists’ creative processes and experience places where they work.
Five project sites will be open to the public: LMCC’s Arts Center at Governors Island, St. Cornelius Chapel (also on Governors Island), Pier 42 on the East River Waterfront (which will offer family-friendly activities), Battery Park, and LMCC’s Lower Manhattan headquarters at 125 Maiden Lane.
