Some of these include a scored movement obstacle course (no props\, just ourselves in the space-don’t worry we aren’t climbing under furniture or anything wild)\, walking scores\, circular patterns\, and other felt movement forms with partners\, as individuals\, and/or in groups. These scores are wonderful tools from Equus Projects that Teresa has been investigating and learning from JoAnna Mendl Shaw through choreographic research and mentorship that activate connection with our brains\, bodies\, and each other.  \n@bodystories_teresafelliondance https://bodystoriesfellion.org/  \n3:15pm \nNattie Trogdon + Hollis Bartlett \nFallacies \nPerformance/ artist talk (30 min) \nWith Brendan Drake\, Wendell Gray II\, Noa Weiss\, Katerina Belmatch\, Symara Sarai\, Nattie Trogdon\, Hollis Bartlett  \nFallacies’ is a movement work of reference and research project that culls known dances from pop culture and bodily memory to live in the space between replication and translation. The play jumps back to the early 1990s\, when we meet another young woman\, Linda\, traveling for an abortion\, with the help of a welcoming guest in Liverpool\, Ruth. This project is based on the belief that our hirstory is key to healing our communities from the scars of transphobia. We heal when we connect with ancestors and learn more about ourselves through them. We heal when we receive testament to our continued existence in this world. We heal when given the opportunity to repair the scars of past conflicts. Finally\, we heal when we are able to grow from the wisdom of passing time. Gathering around oral histories and physical materials offers us the opportunity to engage with all these modes of healing. \nFind more information at: https://gender.network/events \nGrant program: Creative Engagement \n– \nCenter for Remembering and Sharing  \nCrossing Boundaries\nSunday\, November 5\, 2023 at 6:30 PM\nThe Jazz Gallery (5th floor)\, 1160 Broadway\, New York\, NY 10001 \nCrossing Boundaries is a concert series devoted to dissolving boundaries between performers and audiences\, the traditional and contemporary\, classical and experimental\, and the culturally specific and the global. Moreover\, Fellion will share video projected media containing previous performances and creative processes. \n@bodystories_teresafelliondance \n\n3:00pm \nMonica Duncan + Senem Pirler \nConfessions on a Transmission Line \nScreening  \nIn” Confessions on a Transmission Line\,” we explore the audiovisual process of feedback as a spiritual practice in relation to Camp and queer potentiality. Using real-time signal processing tools and improvisational strategies\, we set up a performance space where our persona interacts with a discarded megaphone. By re-using this object as a tool and instrument to both project and receive transmission frequencies\, we are searching for a way to communicate with our queer ancestors and those yet to be born. \n@marblemonmon / @s_pirler \n\n3:30pm \nBobby Abate \nThe Outside Tarot  \nLecture (15-30 min) \nI am excited to present the Outsider Tarot and its guidebook for open studios\, a project that took 10 years to research\, create and self-publish.  I will discuss the inspiration\, esoteric foundations\, new suits of the Minor Arcana\, a Major Arcana without people and the eviction of the royal family. We might even do a reading or two. Copies of the deck and guidebook will be available for purchase. \nThe Outsider Tarot reinterprets the Golden Dawn and Rider Waite decks\, emphasizing inclusivity and diversity within the original esoteric framework. The hand-rendered imagery fuses classic Tarot style with my own artwork\, which will be on display in my studio space.  The spiritual guide for the Outsider Tarot is Rachel Pollack\, an internationally renowned trans author\, artist\, and Tarot grandmaster\, who sadly passed away this year. Rachel joins other inspirational ‘Outsiders’ like Kathy Acker\, Punk Rock Feminist writer; Leigh Bowery\, avant-garde performance artist; Nina Simone\, legendary singer; Samuel Steward\, renegade Queer author and tattoo artist; Jackie Shane\, trailblazing transgender soul singer\, and more\, enriching the deck with their wisdom and guidance. https://www.outsidertarot.com/ \nOutsidertarot.com    @bobbysweetkitty \n\n4:00pm \nRonit Levin Delgado \nShabbat Brides (Work in Progress) \nPerformance + Screening (20 min) \n“We can only grab another’s hand when our hand is free”  \nMultidisciplinary artist Ronit Levin Delgado\, in collaboration with Katie Cercone and Kelly Shaw Nyala\, invites the audience to enter into our bodies and engage in self-reflection through symbolic movement-based rituals allowing ourselves to focus on the moment\, to dance\, sing and share mother nature’s gifts\, celebrating the abundance and joy of nature.  \nEach performer embodies a hybrid Goddess of Happiness\, reminding viewer’s there’s no need to look outside of ourselves or worship a disembodied idol. Rather\, we can find peace\, joy and happiness by gazing inwards – and claiming what we have culturally disavowed or denied ourselves permission to actualize. A signature of Delgado’s work\, mirrors and reflective surfaces embellish the installation space as three Goddesses dance in choreographed sequences for connection to the spirit realms and nature. \nAs a whole\, the performance invites audience participants to reflect upon their relationship from the spacious naturescape of Governor’s Island\, just a heartbeat away from the city and its perpetual chaos. Audience members are invited to “go within” and join the three Artists in self-reflective exploration of the Goddess within\, an ancient path to liberation… \nThe performance will formally begin in the outdoor gallery space\, whereby the artists will interact with found natural objects on the island\, including each other\, vacillating between contact dance and other dance-based movements. Eventually the piece moves indoors\, where inspired by the natural elements and sounds of magical Governors Island\, a trinity of female artists connect and activate the surroundings through movements based in Yoga – including Breath of Joy meditation\, various nature-based asanas and group exercises. A video installation capturing the water in front of the Statue of Liberty that is also connected to Governors Island will be projected. Reminding us that life is fluid and pure. Water being one of our most essential natural resources\, and one of Mother Earth’s gifts\, it will be a primary symbolic centerpiece within the interactive performance ritual. \n@ronitlevindelgado

Soboleva\nThe Heartbr(ache) Club is a collaboration between Le’Andra LeSeur and Ksenia M. Soboleva\, that takes the form of a curatorial initiative and an oral history project. Taking heartbr(ache) as the starting point for an ongoing dialogue on queer identity\, LeSeur and Soboleva have been collecting heartbr(ache) stories that deepen our understanding of physical and platonic intimacy\, both between people and with the world at large. Negating the notion of being broken open as a finale\, LeSeur and Soboleva consider the generative potential of aching\, and suggest heartbr(ache) as a precondition for living a queer life. \n5:00 PM – 6:00 PM\nPerformance by Reed Rushes

SUMMARY:The moon is just a mirror: Lantern Giveaway
DESCRIPTION:RSVP Here! \nSeptember 3\, 6:30pm – 8:30pm \nRhonda Weppler and Trevor Mahovsky host a special evening event marking the transformation of their installation\, there is nothing you can think that is not the moon\, which currently houses over 300 handmade lanterns the artists started making in 2022. Rhonda and Trevor invite you to take home one of these unique lanterns\, a rare opportunity to receive an artwork and give these lanterns an extended life. The parade of illuminated lanterns leaving the exhibition will create a scattering of light\, reminiscent of traditional lantern festivals. \nThe making and sharing of these lanterns is an evolving aspect of the duo’s practice\nwhere they create an economy of copying\, sharing and remaking objects. The current lanterns will be replaced by lanterns visitors have made during special workshops with Rhonda\, that replicate objects they have lost or given away. These lanterns\, small time capsules of visitor’s memories mirroring objects that once existed\, will remain on view through winter. \nLearn More!

SUMMARY:Sankofa\, a new performance by Anna Parisi
DESCRIPTION:July 15\, 3pm and 5pm\nLower Gallery at The Arts Center at Governors Island\nRSVP Here! \nSankofa\, an African word from the Akan tribe in Ghana\, conveys the ancient wisdom in learning and retrieving from the past to ensure a brighter\, healthier and wiser future. Sankofa\, a new performance by Anna Parisi\, portrays a young Black woman\, who is contending with the voices in her head and her self-worth in a world where the standards of beauty and value do not match her identity. Parisi is joined by Shareef Kinslow who plays Damon a menacing specter and trickster and Zamo Mlengana who plays Nina\, a kind\, quiet 10-year-old Black girl who returns from her first pool party feeling heartbroken and deceived. \nThe performance takes place in a liminal space. A waiting room. A void within the mind\, where she is remembering a traumatic event from her childhood and processing her experience and thoughts towards healing. Navigating her inner liminal space\, the young woman engages in a necessary rebellion against inherited ideals\, weaving past and future\, and laying down the threads for the rebirth of her present wholeness. \nSankofa is inspired by and stems from interviews Parisi conducted with people of color from Brazil\, USA\, Trinidad Tobago and Hawaii on their relationship with their hair. \nDirected by: Maggie Scrantom \nCostume design by: Raquel Wynmann \nDocumentation by: Natalia Almonte \nSpecial thanks to: Flávia Vieira\, Rebecca Barreto\, Luiza Côrrea\, Dalaeja Foreman\, Keith O.
