Sam Van Aken, Arts Center Residency 2019


Sam Van Aken is a Syracuse, NY based artist born in Reading, PA. He combines new technologies with traditional modes of art-making to create projects that cross boundaries and engage public spaces.

His exhibitions include:
Streubostwiese, Grossman Gallery, Lafayette College, Easton, Pennsylvania (2017, Solo)
Tree of 40 Fruit: The Michigan Trees, Eli and Edyth Broad Art Museum at Michigan State (2016, Solo)
A Hole in the Sky, Munson Williams Proctor Art Museum, Utica New York (2014, Solo)

He is a recipient of Coalesce Artist in Residence-Creative Arts Initiative at University of Buffalo, Buffalo NY in 2018. He has also been awarded residencies from McColl Center for Visual Art, Charlotte North Carolina, 2018 and Bemis Art Center for Contemporary Art, Omaha, Nebraska, 2016
