Every October, Open House New York Weekend unlocks the doors of New York’s most important buildings, offering an extraordinary opportunity to experience the city and meet the people who design, build, and preserve New York.
On October 17–18, 2020, OHNY Weekend will showcase the best of New York's built environment, along with the people who design, build, preserve, curate, and animate our city. This year's festival will feature a hybrid of virtual vignettes and self-guided IRL explorations, offering more than 100 ways to engage New York, whether you log on from your couch or venture to a new neighborhood.
As part of the 2020 Open House New York Weekend, LMCC presents two events: Asiya Wadud: ECHO EXHIBIT – Self-Guided Walking Tour and Virtual Studio Visits with LMCC Workspace Artists-in-Residence.
Asiya Wadud: ECHO EXHIBIT
Self-Guided Walking Tour
Scattered throughout the Seaport District and Pier 17, you will find poems written from telephone conversations held in June and July with individuals in Lower Manhattan and designed by Shannon Finnegan. We invite you to celebrate and reflect on these mutual experiences, both personally and as a community. Download the map of the walking tour, and read more about ECHO EXHIBIT here.
Virtual Studio Visits with LMCC Workspace Artists-in-Residence
Part 1 : Saturday, October 17th, 12pm EST
Part 2: Sunday, October 18th, 12pm EST
Join LMCC for virtually-reimagined studio visits with 2019–2020 Workspace Artists-in-Residence. During the OHNY weekend, LMCC will host two live sessions, each featuring five members of the current cohort. During these sessions, the artists will each present their work, conduct fireside-style chats with one another, and answer questions from the live audience.
