“In Magloire’s world, music and dance are given equal weight, both visually and aurally. In Magloire’s world, small isn’t just beautiful, it expresses something of the divine.” – Musical America, September 2013, Rachel Straus.
Miro Magloire is a New York-based choreographer who was born in Munich, Germany. He seeks to celebrate and nurture the interconnectivity of classical, contemporary music and ballet by bringing together high caliber musicians and dancers to collaborate. Throughout the process, he has created a distinctive style: sweeping elegance, a striking theatricality, and bold musical choices. Magloire’s works have been performed at Joyce SoHo, the Jacob’s Pillow Inside/Out Stage, Roulette, Ailey/Citigroup Theater, the Center for Performance Research and the Museum of Art and Design.
His grants and awards include funds by the O’Donnell-Green Music and Dance Foundation and the Jerome Robbins Foundation, and the Forum of Young Composers Award, North Rhine-Westphalia. He first studied music at the Conservatory of Music in Cologne, Germany, then Modern Dance at the Ailey and Martha Graham Schools, and ballet with Wilhelm Burmann and Peff Modelski.
