Yuliya Tsukerman is a Brooklyn-based writer who was born in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Her plays, which often feature puppets and performing objects in lead roles, balance the mundane with the absurd. Performances of her original work include Before and After, St. Ann’s Warehouse, Brooklyn, NY (2013); Honey, The Brick Theater, Brooklyn, NY (2013); and Freezing Point, Nouveau 47, Dallas, TX (2012). She was an artist-in-residence at the Puppet Lab, St. Ann’s Warehouse, Brooklyn, NY (2012 – 13). Her plays have been finalists for the Lark’s Playwrights’ Week, the O’Neill Playwrights’ Conference, the Lakeshore Players’ 10th Annual Ten-Minute Playwriting Contest, and the Actors Theatre of Louisville National Ten-Minute Play Contest. She received a B.A. from the University of Southern California.
