Youmna Chlala is a New York-based artist born in Beirut. Her work investigates the relationship between fate and architecture through drawing, books, video, installation, and performance. Chlala’s exhibitions include I Am Who You Say I Say Who You Are, CultuurCentrum, Belgium (2013); Days of Being Wild, Art In General, NY (2013); and X cannot exist without Y, Performa 11 Biennial, NY (2011).

Chlala’s awards and residencies include Open Sessions, The Drawing Center, NY (2014–2016); Artist In Residence, Henie Onstad Art Centre, Oslo, Norway (2012); Production Grant, European Cultural Council (2010); Artist Residency, Triangle Arts and Makkan, Shatana, Jordan (2009); and Artist In Residence, Headlands Center for the Arts, California (2006). She received her M.F.A. from California College of the Arts.
