Yara Travieso is a Brooklyn-based artist born in Miami, FL. Her work focuses on creating choreographed “Anti-Spectacles” for film and for stage. Her exhibitions and installations include La Medea (live film experience), Bric Arts Media House, Brooklyn, NY (2014); Your Heart & Your Belly & Your Whole Insides Felt Empty & Wanting & Hollow (installation performance), STREB Lab for Action Mechanics, Brooklyn, NY (2014); and Kwaidan (multimedia opera),The Tribeca Performing Arts Center, New York City (2013). Travieso was a NALAC Fund for the Arts Grantee through the National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures, the Ford Foundation, and the Surdna Foundation. She was an artist-in-residence at BRICLab, Brooklyn, NY (2014); The Tribeca Performing Arts Center, New York, NY (2012); and Imagine Science Film Festival, New York, NY (2012). Travieso received her B.F.A. from The Juilliard School.
