“the kind of theatre I want to continue to see, that is the kind of theatre I want artists to keep making.” NewYorkTheatreNow, May 3, 2014; Montserrat Mendez

UP Theater Company, founded in 2010 by theater artists living in Northern Manhattan, is committed to filling the void of professional theater production opportunities for artists and audiences in the neighborhoods of Inwood and Washington Heights. The company seeks to challenge their audiences with work by contemporary playwrights, establishing a reputation for being gritty, pugnacious, and irreverent. Their productions include Epic Poetry; K Comma Joseph by Kirby Fields; Ashé by Ricardo Pérez González; Chalkboard Trilogy by Nancy Nevarez.
